Blood tests and Laboratory Services
We have in-house laboratory and blood testing facilities that enable us to determine the health of your pet very quickly. This is especially important in very ill animals and those requiring immediate or emergency treatment. We also have regular courier pick-ups to take blood and tissue samples to an external laboratory that specialises in animal pathology for more comprehensive tests and results are often back the next day. Common laboratory tests include blood chemistries, complete blood counts, blood clotting times, urinalysis, faecal tests, biopsy examination, cultures and infectious disease testing. We recommend that all pets over 7 years old have a Pre-Anaesthesic Blood Test undertaken prior to anaesthesia. This is done on the same morning of the surgery to ensure that your pet is in optimum health for the procedure.
